Creating a Community Media Network

A community media project has been set up to support local media projects in the area.

This all started with our support of Radio KEMET 97.5FM, Nottingham’s first African-Caribbean Radio Station.  NDC provided purpose built studios on Alfreton Road, and we have worked very closely with the station to help ensure that the first year of broadcasting goeas smoothly. A sussussful launch in January 2007 included the star names of Kele Le Roc, Omar and Jermain Penant.  The station has already set-up an intensive training programme, which has successfully developed some very talented people who are now working on production and broadcasting.

Our media officer will also be working alongside local radio stations Faza and Dawn, to help improve their facilities and the service to its listeners, while supporting their training initiatives.

The Take Part Project

A studio suite has been developed above C the Barbas shop on Alfreton Road.  The Take Part Project will provide young people who live in the area with training and education opportunities in music related activities.  Awareness sessions on housing, sex education, employment and training will also be delivered through the studio, encouraging young people who are in danger of falling into crime towards another path.
