Trustee Profiles

Ruth Greenberg - Passionate about Nottingham and in particular Radford and Hyson Green, Ruth has worked in the area for 10 years. Originally employed by the City Council she managed local play, youth and community development workers before moving on to the post of Chief Officer of the Partnership Council. Growing up in a disadvantaged area with parents who both volunteered in local projects, she understands the difference local people can make to improving an area. She is keen to ensure that local people get the maximum benefit from the programme and that there are improvements to the area that really change people's lives.

June Greenway - Positive and passionate about Nottingham and committed to working with people to improve the places we live, work and play.  June is a qualified planner and urban designer, and has worked for many years helping community groups to develop and realise local projects across the city including Radford and Hyson Green, and brings strategic and financial planning, management, team working, communication and creative thinking skills to the team.  Her priority is to secure the energy and passion of other key stakeholders to ensure ongoing improvements for the people and the area.

Jane Hartley - Jane has lived in the Hyson Green area for over 40 years and, along with her experience as a voluntary worker with many local organisations, she brings a host of local knowledge to Castle Cavendish Foundation.   She was a founder member of Residents Voice which was formed as part of the New Deal for Communities programme in its early days to involve local people.  She now serves as their Chair and is also an active member of her local residents group.  Her aspirations for the area are to see a revival of the community spirit, more employment opportunities for local people, better facilities for children and young people and regeneration of the area so that it will be a place where people want to live and work.

Alan R Harvey – recruited specifically for his knowledge of, and commitment to, governance Alan has a strong track record of achievement in, and contribution to, public service. In the past he has held senior positions within Nottingham City Council and Nottingham City Homes and now offers his expertise as a consultant, interim manager and ‘critical friend’ to a range of public agencies.  He is also currently serving as a Governor for South Notts College.  Through this broad experience he has developed an expertise in establishing strong and transparent governance arrangements and has much direct experience of navigating through the complex world of overlapping accountabilities.  Ideally placed to help the Board ensure that the Foundation challenges itself, its procedures, processes, quality, performance and delivery and ensures that in doing so it taps into the talent and ability of the local community to create a strong and lasting legacy.

Sheila Hyde – Focused and with exacting standards Sheila has had links with the local area which go back nearly 25 years when she lived in the area and worked as a Senior Welfare Rights Officer.  Since then she has gained an impressive array of skills and experience working in leadership roles in a range of housing organisations.   Recently appointed as Managing Director of Spirita Housing Association, based in Alfreton Road, she brings excellent leadership and management skills as well as a strong commitment to making a difference.  Her current priority is to ensure that the Board works with key partners locally to ensure a lasting legacy from the NDC as we move forward into the next phase.

Katrina BullKatrina Bull was elected to Nottingham City Council as one of the youngest councillors in 2000. She has fought and won three council elections, increasing the turnout in each election. She has represented Radford and Park ward since 2003. One third of the ward falls within the original NDC boundary. She has been a director on NDC since 2004 and seen many improvements for residents and businesses. Katrina has had many responsibilities within the council ranging from leisure services, young people, leading on scrutiny and now she is on the Council's Cabinet, having responsibility for Environment and Sustainability, which includes cleanliness of the city, dealing with waste, recycling and also responding to climate change.

She has two small children, aged 4 and 2, was born in Coventry in 1974. She grew up having both parents at home as her father was disabled by a stroke and her mother was at home caring for him. Life was very difficult, but with support from family and school she was the first member of the extended family to go to university. She moved to Nottingham in 1998 for her first job at Trent University. She is totally committed to Radford, Lenton and The Park where she represents and loves living in Nottingham. After experiencing first hand family life living on disability benefits, she knows the value of education for all, support for the disabled and carers in particular. She will work hard to ensure that people who need support the most see the continued benefit of the NDC programme, the Council, the NHS and the Police - as well as the wealth of voluntary sector groups- working together to make life better in Radford & Hyson Green.
